Creative Directions 2018
Creative Directions 2018 | Faculty of Arts, Monash University
Graduate Media Festival
Presented by the School of Media, Film & Journalism
Creative Directions is a festival of ideas and industry know-how exploring critical issues shaping the contemporary media, cultural and communications industries.
2018 Theme: Future Tense
Social media, automation, algorithms, big data and bespoke manufacturing are completely transforming how we work, make, live and communicate with each other.
From hashtag activism to data journalism, VR to PR, Creative Directions 2018 will examine what’s making us tense about the future of work in the media, communications and cultural industries. How do you use analytics and big data in transparent and accountable ways? What might a socially responsible start-up look like? How do new technologies challenge existing industry norms and professional standards? And what skills and knowledge do early career professionals need- ethically and practically- to navigate this rapidly changing media landscape?
Join guest speakers from the ABC, Channel 9, Australian Centre for the Moving Image, The Guardian, The Sydney Morning Herald, The Age, Now Australia, Respect Victoria, Thankyou, and many more to be announced.
