If you are unsure of which Yubikey to select, as a general rule most Apple Mac laptops under 3 years old and most Windows laptops under 1 year old will have native USB-C connectivity.
What is a Yubikey?
Yubikey enables a secure second-factor authentication method, which is required to successfully authenticate with your Monash account. They are easy to use, durable and provide an extra layer of security to your account.
Limitations of using an MFA key
When you register for Multi-factor authentication with a Yubikey (USB key), you will no longer have access to MFA via the Okta Verify app on a smartphone.
Using an MFA key will limit your ability to login to devices without a USB port, this means that you will not be able to login to a Monash web page (eg My.Monash) via a smartphone or tablet.
If you have opted into Okta with your smartphone and we assign you a key then your account will require you to use that key next time you sign in.
Keep your USB Key with you always, and keep it safe. Any replacement keys will incur a fee of $55.
