Learn Basic Critical Care Echocardiography with cardiac sonographers in the echo lab and supervised by expert clinicians

 

The Monash University Critical Care Ultrasound (MUCCU) short courses, with its unique combination of flexible online delivery and practical hands-on ultrasound scanning support sessions with experts at clinical sites, enables you to acquire this critical competency at your own pace. 

Only clinicians who complete the entire MUCCU Basic Echocardiography module, including online case studies, MCQ assessment, satisfactory logbook completion and practical assessments, will be awarded the micro-credential MUCCU certificate.

 

Eligibility:

Clinicians who have practice rights at MUCCU affiliated hospitals. External candidates will be considered subject to clinical site approval.

Co-requisite: The Ultrasound Physics for Critical Care Imaging. You need to pass this physics module to obtain the MUCCU Basic Echocardiography certification of completion.



Delivery and assessment for basic Echo: 

  • 1-month online learning and up to 9 months in total for logbook and clinical assessment in completion
  • lectures, videos, authentic clinical case studies and recommended reading
  • summative assessments (MCQs) of your clinical knowledge online
  • 10 hours of 1:1 practical scanning session with qualified and highly experienced sonographers and clinicians in affiliated clinical sites
  • options for additional hands-on scanning hours
  • options of 10 hours of simulation training
  • 50 cases logbook supervision, formative and summative practical assessments with lead clinician
