



Wrongful Convictions
This short course is designed to inform participants about wrongful convictions in the criminal justice system. It will define wrongful convictions and explore the many causes from general (e.g., eyewitness testimony) and professional including forensic science, policing and the legal system. It will identify and discuss the consequences of wrongful convictions and how the different professions learn from their occurrence…if at all. Finally, the course will look at possible prevention mechanisms and how wrongful conviction is treated outside of Australia.
There will be a range of renowned speakers, local, national and international.
Participants who would benefit from this short course include:
- Forensic science practitioners
- Forensic science managers
- End users of forensic science including police and members of the legal profession
- Forensic science/medicine and law students
