Are Monash scrubs mandatory for all medicine and health students on placement?

No, Monash-branded scrubs are not mandatory for all students. You are welcome to wear your preferred scrubs, or other Monash or non-Monash uniform items, as long as they are in line with your health network’s expectations. But we can’t guarantee you won’t want to make the switch once you see how good ours look and feel.

Please note Nursing and Nursing and Midwifery students are expected to adhere to specific uniform requirements, which includes wearing Monash-branded scrubs or alternate uniform options.

 

Why is Monash introducing scrubs?

While some health disciplines have existing uniform items, this is the first time Monash is offering branded scrubs. Introducing scrubs supports a consistent, professional appearance in health settings while maintaining student comfort during long clinical hours. It also builds stronger recognition of Monash’s contribution to the health workforce

 

What if my placement requires hospital-issued scrubs?

Some hospitals require students to wear site-issued scrubs for infection control or colour-coding purposes. In these cases, hospital requirements take priority. You should always follow your placement provider’s instructions. Your Monash scrubs can still be used in settings where they are permitted.

 

What sizing options are available?

The scrubs have been designed with a wide range of fits and sizes from XS to XL in women’s items and S-2XL in men’s items. Sizing charts will be available at shop.monash.edu. Monash campus retail stores at Peninsula and Clayton will have sample sizes available to try.

 

When will my pre-order be delivered?

We will get your order to you as soon as possible. With global supply chain issues affecting transport at the moment, this could take up to six weeks. But we promise it’s worth the wait for the comfort and style of the new Monash scrubs!

 

What if my items don’t fit when they arrive?

We can only exchange items that are returned to Peninsula or Clayton campus retail stores in their original packaging with tags still attached. We recommend trying your top and pants on before removing tags or disposing of packaging.
