Monash University Critical Care Ultrasound: Critical Care Basic Echocardiography
The Monash University Critical Care Ultrasound (MUCCU) short courses, with its unique combination of flexible online delivery and practical hands-on support sessions at clinical sites, enables you to acquire this critical competency at your own pace.
This Critical Care Basic Echocardiography (CCE) module forms part of the suite of MUCCU short courses. It introduces you to the requisite knowledge required not only to perform a CCE examination but also interpret findings in specific haemodynamic settings.
On successfully passing all assessments including practical hands-on scanning, you’ll receive a Certificate of Completion from Monash University**.
HOW YOU'LL LEARN
Your learning and assessment activities will include:
■ Lectures, videos and recommended reading
■ formative assessment of authentic clinical case studies
■ summative assessments (MCQs) of your clinical knowledge online
■ 10 hours of personal 1:1 practical scanning sessions with qualified and highly experienced sonographers (with options for more**)
■ CCE log book
■ formative and summative practical assessments with lead supervising clinicians
All clinicians are eligible to apply but enrolment is subject to the approval of your lead supervising clinician at your participating clinical site (i.e. Eastern Health or Monash Health or Western Health).
Additional sessions are available for purchase if required
**Co-requisite: The Ultrasound Physics for Critical Care Imaging. You need to pass this physics module to obtain the certification of completion for the Basic Echocardiography.

This CCE module is available for a period of 20 weeks and should take approximately 90 to 96 hours to complete.
