About the course:

Mastering the ability to influence others and make a positive difference is crucial for professional development. In today's fast-paced digital world, staying updated on new technologies and learning how to use them effectively is essential for success in the modern workplace. The course, crafted by experienced professionals in the field, aims to provide participants with the essential knowledge and skills needed to increase their impact and expand their influence. Through theoretical learning, practical activities, and real-life scenarios, participants will gain a better understanding of the art of influence. Additionally, they will develop strategies to overcome challenges and learn how to drive positive changes in various aspects of their professional and personal lives. By completing this course, participants will be equipped with the tools and knowledge to unlock their full potential and advance in their careers.

Structure:

This course comprises 5 modules of learning, followed by the completion of a 5 week goal and Final Assessment to qualify for your micro-credential. Please see below a module-by-module breakdown of what you will learn in this course.

Module 1: Understanding influence and impact, and its importance in various contexts. How to build your brand, be persuasive, communicate impactfully and exert your influence.

Module 2: Influence and impact skills and how you can increase your impact by building trust, nurturing meaningful connections, leveraging relationships and collaborating with stakeholders.

Module 3: Influencing change by effectively dealing with difficult questions and overcoming barriers to success, how to turn challenges into opportunities, and use negotiation skills to drive positive outcomes.

Module 4: Implementing influence strategies using real-world scenarios about influencers and their impact.   How to pitch your ideas, use digital persuasion and social media to influence your audience, and create impactful presentations.                                                                                                        

Module 5: Planning for influence and impact involves applying your new skills and knowledge to develop your personalised impact plan to outline your goals, strengths, areas for improvement and action steps to enhance your impact and influence.

Summative Assessment at the end of course

Learning outcomes:

  1. Gain an understanding of the fundamental principles of influence and their application in shaping attitudes, behaviours, and decisions.
  2. Use  persuasive communication skills, including clear articulation of ideas and active listening, to establish rapport and credibility in various contexts.
  3. Identify strategies for tailoring messages to diverse audiences and situations, effectively maximising their impact. 4. Recognise and resolve common barriers to influence through the development  of appropriate strategies.
  4. Recognise difficult situations, use negotiation methods, and apply effective communication approaches to reach goals and make a significant difference
  5. Develop personal impact plans that strategically align goals, actions, and communication strategies to achieve desired results.
