Freda Freiberg library launch 

Freda is a pioneer of film studies in Australia. She is best known for her research on Japanese cinema including the monograph Woman in Mizoguchi Films from 1981 and the landmark edited collection Don't Shoot Darling: Women's Independent Filmmaking in Australia (with Annette Slonski and Barbara Creed) from 1987. Freda was a renowned teacher and contributor to many film institutions in Melbourne over the years including Melbourne International Film Festival and Monash University where she taught film studies in Visual Arts and Japanese departments.
