ULTRASOUND IMAGING IN CRITICAL CARE

This short course integrates the theoretical knowledge of anatomy, physiology and ultrasound instrumentation in lung ultrasound scanning for the diagnosis of lung parenchymal disease. The module introduces you to the requisite knowledge required to perform a lung ultrasound examination in clinical context ranging from Febrile/Breathless/Shocked/Arrested patient. You will participate in the scanning of patients at your own clinical site under supervision to enable you to apply these principles and develop basic practical skills in the clinical environment.

This innovative learning initiative is an education partnership between Eastern Health, Monash Health and Monash University. You will be guided by leading expert clinicians and highly experienced sonographers, supported by educational experts from Monash University. 

This Clinical Lung Ultrasound module is available for a period of 18 weeks and should take approximately 40 to 48 hours to complete. All clinicians are eligible to apply but enrolment is subject to the approval of your lead clinician at your participating clinical site (i.e. Eastern Health or Monash Health

Co-requisite: The Ultrasound Physics for Critical Care Imaging. You need to pass this physics module to obtain the certification of completion for the Clinical Lung Ultrasound.

Price: Basic $2500 with optional additional hands on sessions. $150 per hour for junior registrar and $250 consultants
