Australian Epilepsy Neurostimulation Workshop

The Australian Epilepsy Neurostimulation Workshop is a meeting designed for clinicians and scientists interested in epilepsy and neurostimulation/neuromodulation. This inaugural workshop has an additional theme of advanced epilepsy surgical techniques, which often overlap with neurostimulation evaluation and planning.

The workshop will provide a unique platform for knowledge exchange, skill development, and networking within the field.

The workshop will have two attendance options:
(1) Seminar attendance (9am – 3:30pm both days). This includes the short-format lectures and panel discussions. Seminar attendance is open to all interested in the field.
(2) Full workshop attendance: includes short-format lectures and panel discussions (9am – 3:30pm), practical/hands-on sessions (3:30-5pm both days), and an optional ‘VNS therapy’ dinner in the evening of Monday 18th (see below). The workshop attendance option is aimed at clinicians (neurologists, neurosurgeons, and nurses) who work in epilepsy neurostimulation or are interested in working in the field.

The workshop will be fully catered (morning tea, light lunch, and afternoon tea) for both attendance options, but registration is essential for either option. Both options have a limited capacity, and if that is reached you will have the opportunity to be added to the waitlist.

Additional details for full workshop attendance

The workshop practical/hands-on sessions will have two streams:
(1) Programming stream: primarily focused programming for VNS (vagus nerve stimulation) and DBS (deep brain stimulation) in epilepsy.
(2) Planning, problems, and practicalities stream: This stream is focused on more surgically-relevant topics: stereotactic planning and guidance systems and practical aspects/problem-solving in stereotactic & neurostimulation surgery.  Please indicate your preferred sessions in drop-down boxes to the right (for workshop planning purposes).

The optional ‘VNS therapy’ dinner is an educational dinner sponsored by LivaNova and is open to full workshop attendees only. It is not part of the workshop agenda but is an opportunity to network with others in the field. If you are interested in attending, please indicate so in the drop-down box to the right, and your details (name/email) will be passed on to LivaNova staff for further details and arrangements.

The price for full workshop attendance is $300, however, early-bird pricing of $250 will apply until 17th February. Alternatively, discount workshop pricing ($150) is available for medical trainees (e.g. neurology and neurosurgical registrars and fellows) and allied health practitioners (e.g. nurses and dieticians). For medical trainees, please provide details in the relevant field to the right.
