The Department of Community Emergency Health and Paramedic Practice, Monash University is pleased to announce the following upcoming short course:

Advanced Medical Life Support (AMLS)

Advanced Medical Life Support (AMLS) is the gold standard of education for emergency medical assessment and treatment. Endorsed by the National Association of EMS Physicians, AMLS emphasizes the use of the AMLS Assessment Pathway, a systematic tool for assessing and managing common medical conditions with urgent accuracy.  This 2-day course is designed for EMTs, paramedics, nurses, physician assistants, physicians and other out-of-hospital providers who are looking to develop and build upon foundation knowledge and skills in the management of medical patients in the out-of-hospital setting.  Upon successful completion of the course, participants receive a certificate of completion, a wallet card recognising them as AMLS providers for 4 years.

  • Respiratory disorders
  • Cardiovascular disorders
  • Shock
  • Altered mental status
  • Neurological disorders
  • Endocrine/Metabolic disorders
  • Environmental emergencies
  • Infectious disease
  • Abdominal disorders
  • Toxicological emergencies
  • Exposure to hazardous materials

This interactive course format includes underpinning lectures, multiple “hands on” skills stations and simulated medical scenarios.
