Jazz and Popular Music Audition Preparation Short Course 2020 is a two-day online course (via Zoom) for jazz/popular instrumentalists and vocalists. This course will explore the performance and ensemble processes that build the skills required to audition for entry to the Sir Zelman Cowen School of Music, and build an understanding expectations for BMus. We encourage both mature age students and students currently studying years 9 -12 to apply.
This course will include performance and ensemble processes that will assist in the building of skills that focus on attaining the standards of the audition requirements.
a guide to the audition process (performance, repertoire, aural test, interview)
introduction to theory and ear training fundamentals
instrument specific workshops (and composition workshop)
performance strategies workshop
Please note: participants will need to participate via the Zoom online platform, and will need to ensure their computer, tablet or phone has microphone and video camera capabilities.
Students need: their instruments and a device (with microphone and video capabilities) to access Zoom. A Zoom link will be sent to registered participants.
